What’s in the bag

Five kinds. Every one earns its place.

Three naturals for texture and scent, two accents for color – sized so they mix on the same branch.

Product size chart – orange slices 1.6 to 2.4 inches, pinecones 1.2 to 2.0 inches, cinnamon bundles 3.2 inches, berry picks 5.9 inches, bows 3.1 to 3.9 inches with a 0.6 inch bell
18
Dried orange slices
1.6 – 2.4 in across
Real citrus, dried until it’s translucent – hang them where the lights shine through.
10
Pinecones
1.2 – 2.0 in
Small natural cones with frosted-looking tips, as pictured; each on its own jute loop.
8
Cinnamon bundles
3.2 in long
Two cinnamon sticks per bundle, wrapped in twine with a loop – the scent comes mostly from these.
6
Red berry picks
5.9 in stems
Faux holly berries on a bendable wire pick – tuck them into the branch rather than hang.
6
Velvet bows with bells
3.1 – 3.9 in wide
Burgundy velvet with a 0.6 in brass-tone bell at the knot. [EDIT: hanger – tie-on / wire / loop]
A note on “natural”
Oranges, cinnamon and pinecones are natural, so sizes fall within the ranges above and no two slices share the same pattern – that’s the look. The berry picks and bows are the two made pieces in the set, chosen for color you can’t get from a pantry.

Why natural

Texture a plastic bauble can’t fake.

Each material does one job well – and together they read as handmade, even though the tying is already done.

🍊
Oranges for glow
Backlit by the tree lights, dried slices turn into little amber windows – the one ornament that looks better the closer you get.
🪵
Cinnamon for scent
A light citrus-and-spice note, strongest fresh out of the bag and softer as the weeks go on. Subtle by design – it’s décor, not a candle.
🌲
Pinecones for depth
Matte, brown and a little rough – they sit back in the branches and make the shiny things look shinier.
🎀
Berries and velvet for contrast
Deep red against orange and brown is what keeps a natural tree from going beige. The bells add a small jingle when someone brushes past.

How to hang it

A tree recipe, in five layers.

Lights first, as always. Then work from the inside of the tree out, biggest to smallest.

Close-up of the ornaments on a lit tree – orange slice, cinnamon bundle, pinecone, red berries and a velvet bow with bell hanging from jute twine
1Pinecones, deep
Hang the ten cones close to the trunk, spread top to bottom. They fill the dark gaps you’d otherwise see through.
2Cinnamon, mid-branch
Eight bundles halfway out on the branches, one per ‘slice’ of the tree, so the scent isn’t all in one place.
3Oranges, up front
Eighteen slices on the outer tips – directly in front of a light wherever you can. Step back and check for glow.
4Berries, tucked
Bend the six wire picks around a branch and push them in until only the berries show. No hook needed.
5Bows, last
Six velvet bows at eye level and near the top, where the bells catch the light and the occasional sleeve.
The one trick
Loop the twine over the branch, not the needle tips, and each piece hangs straight. The set is light, so even the outer tips of a slim tree carry an orange without drooping.

How far one bag goes

Enough for the tree – and a little left for the mantel.

A rough guide. Taste, tree density and how many ornaments you already own all move the numbers.

Full-size tree, 6–7.5 ft
1 bag as accents
Mixed in with the ornaments you already have – the naturals do the texture, your baubles do the sparkle.
Full-size tree, naturals only
2 bags
For the all-natural farmhouse look with nothing else on the tree, double up so every side reads full.
Tabletop or 4 ft tree
1 bag, and some left over
Dresses a small tree on its own; use the rest on the wreath or the gift stack.
Wreath or garland
10–15 pieces
Two or three oranges, a couple of cinnamon bundles, cones, one bow – wire them in with the berry picks.

Beyond the tree

Same bag, six more places.

Care & storage

Keep it dry and it keeps coming back.

Dried citrus and cinnamon last for seasons when they’re stored properly – here’s the short version.

Vintage natural Christmas tree ornaments – a full tree by a fireplace dressed with orange slices, cinnamon, pinecones, red berries and velvet bows
  • ✓Keep it dry. Dried orange absorbs moisture – skip steamy kitchens, damp basements and outdoor use.
  • ✓Away from flame and heat. Twine, velvet and dried fruit belong nowhere near candles or hot bulbs. Use LED lights.
  • ✓Décor, not food. The slices are dried for display – don’t eat them, and keep the set out of reach of kids and pets (small parts, bells).
  • ✓Handle by the twine. Cinnamon can shed a little bark dust; pinecone scales are brittle if crushed.
  • ✓Store sealed. Pack pieces flat in an airtight box or bag with a desiccant sachet, away from sunlight, and they’re ready for next year.
  • ✓Refresh the scent. If the spice note fades after a season or two, a drop of cinnamon or orange oil on the cinnamon bundles brings it back.

Questions

Asked before adding to cart

Are the orange slices real?

Yes – real citrus, sliced and dried. The cinnamon sticks and pinecones are natural too. The two made pieces are the red berry picks (faux berries on wire) and the velvet bows with bells, which are there for color you can’t dry from a fruit bowl.

Does it actually smell?

Lightly. Fresh out of the bag there’s a clear citrus-and-spice note, mostly from the cinnamon; on the tree it settles into a faint background scent you notice when you walk in, not a room-filling one. It softens over the season and can be refreshed with a drop of cinnamon oil.

How do I hang them?

The oranges, cinnamon bundles and pinecones come with jute loops already tied – drape the loop over a branch. The berry picks have a wire stem you bend into the branch. The bows have a loop.

Will the oranges get moldy or attract bugs?

They’re fully dried, which is what keeps them stable. Keep the set away from humidity – no bathrooms, steamy kitchens or outdoors – and store it sealed in a dry box between seasons, and it stays as it arrived.

Is one bag enough for my tree?

As accents mixed with your existing ornaments, one bag covers a 6–7.5 ft tree. For an all-natural tree with nothing else on it, plan on two bags for a full-size tree; one bag dresses a tabletop tree with some left over for the wreath.

Can I use them outdoors or on a porch wreath?

We don’t recommend it. Dried fruit and velvet don’t like rain, frost or damp air. Indoors – or a fully covered, dry entry – is where the set belongs.

Are they safe around kids and pets?

They’re décor, not food or toys. The slices aren’t meant to be eaten, and the bells and small cones are a choking risk for toddlers and a temptation for dogs – hang the set above reach on the tree.
